So finally, I got my first Ipsy beauty box subscription for July 2014. This company was founded by a blogger name Michelle Phan. Ipsy was founded by her in 2011 and it’s original name was Glam Bag. The monthly subscription cost $10/month. It sort of rivals with BirchBox which cost the same. However I like Ipsy better. Even though I will keep my BirchBox subscription active so far. You can see my review on BirchBox on this website as well as YouTube. I did not receive any of these boxes complimentary to give my reviews nor am I’m getting paid for my opinions.
When I signed up for Ipsy…guess what? I had to be place on a waiting list. Seriously? This box better be good. After liking their fan page and other social media outlets, I was immediately removed off the waiting list. Ok..Yeesh, what was all that about? I guess it’s suppose to make you feel exclusive and somewhat selected. (I did feel that way) My sister signed up for it around the same time and they had her on the waiting list for days. Even after she liked, and follow them on all their social media outlets. Hehe.
Now after getting off the waiting list, I however waited what seemed like forever to get my box in the mail. I placed order in mid June but didn’t receive it til late July. Ugh! I started stalking the website, Facebook pages, etc and created a beauty profile (which was pretty fun). The website is very interactive. They have their own social media activities going on there. I uploaded some photos and a video of my review there. Need more followers!!! It’s a great website!
What I got in the box?
First, it wasn’t’ literally a box. My package came in a fuchsia shiny envelope.
I love the color, but was expecting a nice box. Inside the envelope were the products and a pink cute cosmetic bag/pouch. Okay, I like that better than a box (even though I will give that away)
Soy Renewal Beach Spray Conditioning & Texturizing Spray:
Didn’t bother to try this. Not much to say about this product. I put it in a give away box at Gleason’s Gym. But it was a great sample size.
Bare Mineral 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eye shadow
Broad Spectrum SPF 15:
It’s creamy, long-wearing. This product delivers 5 benefits in one formula:
1.) 12-hour long-wearing color
2.) Super-charged primer
3.) Powerful brightening benefits
4.) Smooths fine lines
5.) Protects with SPF
Available in 10 neutral shades.
I like this product and kept it, although I wish the color was brighter. It’s too close to my skin tone but works very well. Long wear without any creasing.
Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08:
Suppose to be rich in vitamins, antioxidants, & exotic plant extracts. Anyway, I can’t give you a review on this. I’m African American. I have a natural tan. Lol. Gave this away immediately.
POP Beauty Sun-kissed Bronzer:
This bronze glow delivers a soft honey beamed hue, adding warmth and a
sun-kissed lift to your complexion. With added vitamin E.
POP your skills: Gently buff pigments onto apples of cheeks & cheekbones, forehead, jaw line & bridge of the nose. Blend until seamless. Swoop gently over eyelids for a no-fuss eye defining effect. Love this. My friend and I had a fight over who keeps this products. Lets say it’s in my make up bag today. Full size product, cost more than the $10/month subscription. Definitely a winner!
Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm:
This glossy gel balm protects & hydrates lips instantly. After the balm wears off, lips are left tinted. Twist-up crayon requires no sharpening. Secure lid after use. I kept this cute mini thingy. I usually like darker shades of color when it comes up to my lip color products. But this shade was workable for me. It’s especially great to use under a darker lip-gloss. In the picture below is not the actual color I was sent. I got a peach color. Much lighter than what the photo suggest.
So in all, I was really happy with my Ipsy subscription for July 2014. Well worth the $10/month price. I felt the samples were mini me’s of the full size. They were like travel size products. I really was quite surprised with the full size bronzer by Pop and the cosmetic bag. I highly recommend Ipsy to all ladies. I will be keeping this subscription!!!
Please check out the video blog I posted for July 2014 Ipsy. It’s quite fun and entertaining. Thanks for reading!
